The Eastern Cape Kudu, scientifically known as Tragelaphus strepsiceros, is a sight to behold. This magnificent antelope is renowned for its striking spiral horns, which can grow up to 120 centimeters long. Males, distinguishable by their larger size and darker coat, often weigh between 190 to 270 kilograms. Females are lighter and lack the iconic horns.

These animals thrive in the dense bushveld and mountainous terrain of South Africa’s Eastern Cape. They are predominantly browsers, feeding on leaves and shoots, and are known for their exceptional agility and jumping ability, easily clearing heights of up to 3 meters.

Kudus are social, yet elusive, often found in small herds led by a dominant male. Their brownish-grey coat with white stripes provides excellent camouflage, making them a challenge to spot in their natural habitat.
